Featured Power File

ADVANCED CYCLING is excited to announce a new section on its website devoted to POWER.

The FEATURED POWER FILE section will be dedicated to the analysis of real power files from racers who have agreed to share this information with us and the rest of the world. The power numbers are individual to each athlete and and that's why our members and contributors do no have a problem sharing the data.

This section will help illustrate our clients and visitors about the information that can be gathered by interpreting the power readings of a rider in the context of a tough training ride or a challenging race, and how to use that information to make training and racing decisions.

The featured power files will be updated every week or two, so come back and check for updates periodically.

If you are interested in having your power files analyzed and posted, please e-mail us your contact information at power@advancedcycling.com.

What facilitates the analysis of a power file? the context in which the numbers were set.

For example, if you are doing a road race, you may see sections with high power as well as sections with very low power and coasting. The narrative of the event, explaining what happened, where it happened, and how you felt during that moment will paint a better picture for what the numbers actually mean and how they can be used to adjust your training.

So, say there is a point in the file in which you power climbs to 800 watts for a few seconds, is it because you started a break? or is it because you followed a break? or is it because you got dropped from a break or the field after an accelartion?
