The Tyson Junior Development Program is an initiative to give active junior racers the opportunity to develop as competitive cyclists through a holistic coaching approach that includes goal setting, skill development, group riding, race preparation and tactics, and structured training with heart rate or power training zones specific to each rider.

The program also provides financial assitance for traveling to events such as Junior Development Camps, National Championships as well as some international events.

Program Information

The program is open to members between the ages of 15 and 18, who are already active racers or who plan to begin racing. The program is not oriented towards recreational cyclists.

The program funds $50 of the cost of any Advanced Cycling Coaching Program selected by the rider, which currently can be as much as 50% of the coaching cost. See Advanced Cycling's coaching programs for details.

The team will fund the program from the proceeds of the Northwest Arkansas Spring Classic, a popular race held every year in the Prairie Grove, Ark area.

As part of team Tyson Racing, every junior is reimbursed a portion of his/her entry fees at the end of the year. There is no minimum number of races to qualify for this incentive offered by the Tyson Racing Team. However, to qualify and to stay in the Junior Program, riders must commit to a minimum number of races every year.

Slipstream Sports awards Polka-Dot KOM sponsorship to Tyson Racing

After a successful start in February 2007, the Tyson Racing Junior Development Program was recognized by Slipstream Sports with the Polka-Dot KOM award. Twenty-five outstanding youth cycling programs from all around the U.S were awarded different sponsorship levels based on results, program strength and long-term commitment to developing the next generation of American champions.
