Allen Lim Power Tour - A Different Perspective
Coach Andres Angulo attended the CycleOps Power Tour lecture and clinic given by world-renown power coach Allen Lim in Richardson, TX on March 4th, 2006. The lecture "Demands of the Tour de France" included detailed data from Floyd Landis' build-up for the 2005 Tour de France, his figures during the race, team tactics, aerodynamics, nutrition, physiology, and everything else you wanted to ask.

During the clinic, Dr. Lim shared with us much of his approach and philosophy not just to training with power, but to training in general. His approach goes well beyond what the plain numbers say. The clinic provided a practical approach for teaching about your power training tools, your training zones and a methodology to quantify your power output from your own perceived exertion.

Although the math behind his approch is not complex, it tends to represent well your effort once your body learns what how strenuous you perceive a workout is, in other words, what "easy", "hard" and "very hard" means to your body. Andres has adopted Dr. Lim's approach and has incorporated into his power based coaching programs.

Power Based Training - by USA Cycling
Andres attended a Power Based Training clinic organized by USA Cycling and held at the National Training Center in Clermont, FL on December 3rd and 4th, 2005. The clinic was open to a reduced number of USA Cycling certified coaches and included topics such as understanding the subtle differences between the main brands of power meters, setting training zones, power meter file analysis, quadrant analysis, workout examples, etc. Dr. Andy Coggan and ex-pro Hunter Allen presented the clinic.

National Road Camp
Andres was a lead coach at the 2005 National Road Camp held in beatiful Madison, Wisconsin in conjunction with Superweek.During the five-day camp, talented riders got the chance to meet their peers from all over the U.S. The camp staff composed of Kristen Dieffenbach, Tim Redus, Andres Angulo and led by Leonardo Campos-Moya, selected a group of riders among the very talented group to take part in multiple race and development opportunities provided by USA Cycling.

USA Cycling Summit
Andres attended the 2004 USA cycling Summit, a USA Cycling event at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, which gave the opportunity to 150 coaching professionals to interact personally with nationally and internationally renowned experts in many fields of cycling. Joe Friel (The Cyclist's Training Bible), John Cobb (Aerodynamics), Allen Lim (Training with Power), Andy Pruitt, M.D., Jim Miller (T-Mobile DS) are just some of the people he had an opportunity to talk to and to learn from. This was 4 days of non-stop cycling talk... what else could you ask for?
